When I look in the mirror and affirm this statement, I think of when I moved to New York City as a teenager, and never left.
When I graduated from high school (in a year that is none of your business), I knew in my soul that in two years’ time I would be moving to New York City. I remember standing in the kitchen and having the conversation with my mom to this day. It was June at the time, and my expectation was that by June two years later, I would have relocated to the big apple and be living my absolute best life.
While I did get part one of this goal together, part two sorta kinda lagged behind.
I showed up in New York City, as a permanent resident, in June, two years after high school, as planned. I lived with my big sister in a room we were able to sublet for a couple of months, and then hustled to find a place to stay long term.
