When I look in the mirror and affirm this statement, I think of working with my best friends and doing what I love, day in and day out.
When I first moved to New York City, I arrived with some pretty big dreams. Like many people, I quickly got caught up in the rat race of trying to manage expenses and work as much as possible, although most work opportunities I landed were misaligned with my interests and/or core values. I remember many times where I struggled to see the value in what I was doing with my life, and I had to manually pull myself out of hopelessness. Thankfully I have lived long enough to see that although those moments can seem very big at the time, they are truly no match for the power we have inside of us to overcome them and thrive.
Around summer of 2018, I met up with a friend for lunch somewhere in Manhattan to catch up and share some creative ideas. Interestingly enough, we had both actually arrived at lunch with the idea to build an online column of some sort. Our ideas merged in discussion, and the Sunday Style column at KIRUNIVERSE COLLECTIVE was born.
