PERSONAL TOP 10: THE LEMON TWIGS
I always love finding new artists to obsess over and be thoroughly inspired by, and although I literally have no memory of how I came across this group, I am beyond grateful I did.
The Lemon Twigs is an alternative/indie rock band formed by brothers Brian and Michael D’Addario. Originally from Long Island, the brothers formed the group in 2014 while still in high school and started releasing music shortly after. According to their Wikipedia page, the two released a limited edition project titled What We Know on 100 cassette tapes in 2015. I’ve not yet had the pleasure of hearing this album, but It looks like it’s available to listen to on YouTube!
CULTURAL SIGNIFICANCE
The Lemon Twigs are a particularly special group, known for their ability to translate inspirations from classic acts such as David Bowie, Elton John, Stephen Sondheim and Elvis Presley into modern-day alt-rock projects that seamlessly fuse the concepts of past present and future. What’s more is that they are capable of such stellar execution at such young ages, each of them born in the late 1990s.
