Earlier this year, I released my first official album as an independent music artist. It was exhilarating and terrifying all at the same time, and what made the experience extra special was the people who supported me in bringing the album to life, and all the amazing people who have been listening. Since it’s June 28th release the project has garnered more than 70,000 streams globally. That’s more than 14,000 streams per month with literally zero promotion/ad placement. Wow.
As amazing as these metrics are, that’s absolutely not why I do what I do. The number of streams is not the reason I make music, nor is it the reason I put a project out on streaming platforms. I make music because it is essential to my life. As I stated in a recent story, I truly believe music is the most beautiful communication tool intercepted by humans. And anyone who knows me knows me, knows that music is the most important thing to me — more important than all things, experiences and people.
